Connecting generations through movement and simple, well‑guided activities. A small‑scale European partnership by Zielone Śląskie (PL) and EURO‑NET (IT).
FitGenerations Smart TrAIner (FGST) is an 18‑month Erasmus+ Sport small‑scale partnership co‑funded by the European Union. It connects younger and older generations through physical activity, simple health education and digital tools. The project develops and field‑tests the free Smart TrAIner application – a lightweight AI assistant offering warm‑ups, main sets and cool‑downs with built‑in scaling for mixed abilities, motivational nudges and group challenges. The app adapts to age, fitness level, group size, environment (indoor/outdoor), available equipment and even weather, promoting accessible movement in parks, community centres and schools.
In parallel, FGST delivers a programme of six local events across Poland and Italy, including Move & Improve Days and two Intergenerational Sports Olympics. Activities blend inclusive workouts (e.g., Nordic walking, tai‑chi, functional circuits, bocce, speedminton), health micro‑workshops (recovery, nutrition, injury prevention) and playful eco‑moves such as plogging. Through the #SmartMoveChallenge campaign, participants share short videos to inspire daily movement and build a supportive community.
The project targets youth (<30), seniors (60+), people with disabilities, refugees and local volunteers/trainers. We expect 260+ direct participants and online reach above 50,000. Beyond physical benefits, FGST strengthens intergenerational bonds, reduces social isolation and fosters green habits. The app will remain free and openly available after the project, enabling scaling to other EU regions.
